Welcome Jackie!

We would like to welcome our newest missionary, Jackie Araneo! She was raised in Union, New Jersey in a Christian family.  Jackie accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age but feels that her faith and relationship with God has grown the most in the past few years.  She went on her first short-term mission trip with Handfuls of Hope in August 2017 and spent the following summer helping the organization start its sports ministry for young children.  After this experience, she felt God’s calling to become a full time missionary and is now serving as the Director of Sports Ministries.  She has a strong passion for sports and working with children and is excited to be able to use these interests as a way to serve God and share the gospel. Welcome to the Handfuls of Hope family Jackie!

Welcome Kiko!

We would like to send out a warm welcome to our newest staff member and missionary, Henry Alvarez, aka Kiko. Kiko has served in ministry in the Dominican Republic for more than 20 years working with various mission groups. He and his wife, Kelly live in San Pedro with their two beautiful daughters. Kiko has a passion for the lost and has wrapped his arms around the core values of Handfuls of Hope. He is not only passionate about the work in the DR but also the eternal impact it could have on those that serve the Lord on mission trips. Kiko serves as the Director of Partner Development where he creates and maintains relationships with other ministries and churches both in the DR and in North America.

Timothy Christian School Senior Mission Trip

This past week Handfuls of Hope had the privilege of partnering with Timothy Christian School for their senior class mission trip! The seniors spent time praying and sharing the love of the Lord in the school, handing out food through the HOH Isaiah 58 Program, in the children's hospital, girl's orphanage and many other places. We would like to thank all of the seniors for selflessly pouring out their hearts and sharing the love of God with the people of the Dominican Republic. We are so proud of each of you! Congratulations Class of 2019! #tcsdrtrip2019

January Update

January has been a great month at the Handfuls of Hope School! After a nice break from the holidays, it was back to work. Our first Mission Trip of the year headed down to the Dominican Republic in early January where many adults and children were cared for by our amazing team. Many of which had a chance to visit with their sponsor children! Our teachers were built very much needed desks and they couldn't be happier!

On January 25th the students celebrated Juan Pablo Duarte, the Dominican Republic’s founding father. Every year his birthday and his work towards independence are honored and celebrated throughout the country.

Did you know...
A bronze and granite statue is in Lower Manhattan, NYC in Duarte Square located on Avenue of the Americas and Canal Street. It was donated by the Dominican Republic on January 26, 1978. If you are ever in NYC make sure to go see it!

January 2019 Medical Trip

A team of over 60 people worked tirelessly to provide healthcare and food to so many beautiful people in the remote villages. Thank you to this amazing team!

Liquid HS 2: Day 2

The second group from the Liquid Church High School program is in the Dominican Republic right now.

The images from Day 1 can be found on the Handfuls of Hope Facebook Page!

Day 2 was a great day full of God's love. The team handed out food in different villages and took the time to face paint and care for those they encountered.
